After the successful launch of the Castle Point Conservative Future group last weekend Shadow Charities Minister, Nick Hurd MP met some of the new members to discuss future projects including social action schemes within the community.
The group visited Unicef in Benfleet High Road and agreed to assist the Charity in attracting new volunteers to help out at the busy charity shop.
Nick Hurd MP commented "I was very pleased to help kick-off the new Castle Point Conservative Future Branch and as Shadow Minister for Charities and Volunteering I am especially pleased that the new group want to place such a strong emphasis on local volunteering right from the start."
Rebecca Harris said "People are wrong if they think our young people are not interested in politics or their community”
“The new Conservative youth branch has set up in Castle Point for the first time in years and they are passionate about making both our community and our Country a better place. The group have decided that as well as campaigning for a Conservative win at the General Election - and some very good parties! - they also plan to make local volunteering a key priority. I hope the new group grows from strength to strength - and has a lot of fun in the process."
One of the first commitments of the new group is to highlight the need for volunteers and donations to charities like UNICEF and other local groups.
