Sign the petition in favour of restricting access to social media for under-16s

Children are spending an unprecedented amount of time online. This means that they are often exposed to violent or pornographic content, something which we Conservatives are campaigning to change.

Restricting access to this type of content is one of the most responsible actions we can take to support parents and protect children. That is why the Conservative Party has announced that it would restrict access to social media for under-16s.

Labour, on the other hand, has kicked the can down the road on this issue and failed to protect children online. Instead of taking action, the Government has launched a consultation to gather more evidence about the risks children face.

However, the evidence is already clear. Social media platforms are extremely addictive, using techniques that exploit anxiety, comparison and distraction, as well as push explicit content. The Government must do more.

If you agree that under-16s should be restricted from using social media, sign the petition below.
