MY PROMISE TO WORK FOR YOU

I am standing for re-election as your Conservative representative in Castle Point Borough Council. After being gifted with the support of Boyce ward residents only last year, I would appreciate your vote on 5th May and the opportunity to further support causes I’ve only just had the chance to start on.

As someone who has grown up and always lived in Benfleet, I could think of nothing worse than to see the place I grew up become overdeveloped and inappropriately developed. This is why I voted AGAINST adoption of the Local Plan on 23rd March. If re-elected, I will not support development on Green Belt nor will I support any reduction in existing Green Belt boundaries.

It is essential that Boyce is represented by a councillor that can see beyond one singular issue, which is where I differ from independents standing this time around. Since being elected I have supported policies and initiatives that:
• Tackle ‘boy-racing’ in the Borough with Public Space Protection Orders.
• Promote and support local businesses in their bounce back from the pandemic by aiding businesses with grant applications.
• Create a Community Infrastructure Levy to charge developers for their new builds and force them to contribute to infrastructure projects.
• Investigate sources of flooding and mitigate its future effect on residents.
• Re-wilding of certain parts of our town to encourage biodiversity and pollination.
• Voting to protect Benfleet from inappropriate development and emphasising with all smaller building sites the importance of offroad parking.

Being a resident with a background working in finance in the city, I am particularly concerned about the future of the Council’s budget and the total lack of plans from independents on how they would keep Council Tax low whilst maintaining a balanced budget – as has been the case for the last twenty years. If re-elected, I will continue to keep your Borough Council Tax bill below inflation and to fight for the best value public services possible.
