Conservative Essex County Council Candidate for Hadleigh
My commitments to you:
- Protect our valued Green Belt
- I share the concerns of residents that our Green Belt is under threat. I will stand up to make sure that residents voices are heard. I will resist the flatted over development of our town centre while still ensuring the protection of our valued Green Belt land. I will fight to make sure that Hadleigh retains its character despite Labour's huge housing targets.
- Fix the potholes, maintain our highways & improve infrastructure
- I know that the condition of our roads is something that residents want to see improved. As a resident of the Borough, I am passionate about our community and understand the frustrations motorists face every day. I will ensure that more funding is directed towards Hadleigh to fix potholes, maintain our highways and deliver vital infrastructure improvements.
- Reduce crime and tackle anti-social behaviour
- Listening to residents' concerns, I know that we have a duty to tackle antisocial behaviour and crime in Hadleigh, ensuring that it remains a safe place to live. I will bring forward initiatives to reduce crime and tackle the current antisocial behaviour issues by establishing a range of youth facilities in the town.
- More SEND services for our children
- I am committed to improving the system so it provides the help that families truly need. As the number of children seeking Special School placements grows, I understand the pressure on our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities provision locally. I will seek to build upon the delivery of services for families caring for loved ones, and parents with SEND children, including better liaison with local support groups.
My track record of delivering for Hadleigh
Working with the Hadleigh Community Group, I have actively supported their delivery of the Summer Fayre and their numerous other projects that improve Hadleigh and quietly make a town feel like home. I also campaigned with residents to keep Hadleigh Old Fire Station open for community use.
I founded and continue to help coordinate the Community Fridge at Hadleigh Library, redistributing surplus food twice a week. And when banks began disappearing from the high street, l campaigned for a local banking hub, helping bring essential services back to residents and businesses that rely on them.
I delivered the strategies for local businesses navigating the pandemic by ensuring they received the information and funding support they needed. I also launched the Choose Local programme, helping our traders recover and reopen.
