Canvey Conservatives announce May 2011 election candidates!

Canvey Conservatives are celebrating after the ever popular Ray Howard agreed to stand for re-election as Borough Councillor for Canvey West in the May 2011 Council elections.

Ray will lead a strong team of candidates committed to winning back Conservative seats from the Independent Party. He will be joined by James Parkin in South Ward, Mark Howard in Winter Gardens, Lydia Parkin in East Ward and Chas Mumford in North Ward.

At the same time the Conservatives will be battling to gain control of Canvey Town Council. Candidates already in place include Jeffrey Stanley in Winter Gardens, Bill Sharp in Central Ward, Tony Belford in South Ward and Pat Haunts in North Ward. The selection process for the remaining seats will continue over coming weeks.

Vera Partridge, Castle Point Conservative Association Chairman said “We are delighted to have so many applications to stand as Conservative Councillors on Canvey Island. I think that it is an indication of the growing popularity of the party on Canvey after Rebecca’s success during the General Election”

“Of course, a Conservative campaign on Canvey Island would not be complete without the inclusion of Mr Canvey himself, Ray Howard. Residents of West Ward have always shown great affection and loyalty towards Ray in recognition of his endless hard work and we are confident that this will continue to be the case.”
