After submitting her objection to the proposed 675 home development at Jotmans Farm, Rebecca Harris MP wrote to Castle Point Borough Council today asking them to extend the deadline for residents to submit their own objections.
The Council has now extended the consultation period until Monday 14 September, giving residents more opportunity to submit their views on the proposed development.
This is a huge application with well over 100 documents for residents to consider, covering everything from the Green Belt and flooding to highways, drainage, ecology and local infrastructure. Rebecca has argued that residents deserve proper time to understand what is being proposed and make their views heard.
There have also been important new consultation responses submitted in recent days, including formal objections from Natural England and Cadent Gas, as well as a holding objection from Essex County Council over the proposed school site.

She has said she is particularly concerned about the loss of this Green Belt site that is undeniably treasured by residents. This is as well as the extra pressure that 675 homes and a new roundabout on the A130 could put on our already overstretched roads, affecting Canvey residents just as much as those in Benfleet.
