Chas and his family, partner Sue and son Karl, have lived on Canvey for the best part of nine years deciding to make it their home after living for many years in Southend and Leigh.
Chas says, “What immediately struck us when we moved here was the terrific sense of community and the genuine friendliness of Island people. That is not to say Canvey is not without its share of problems that will need to be addressed as we go forward. It will be a privilege to serve the people of Canvey.
Chas was in charge of Southend Theatres for many years with the responsibility of running the Cliffs Pavilion and Palace Theatre until he took early retirement in 2007. During his time at Southend Theatres, Chas had extensive experience of working in local government as a senior local government officer and in the private sector at Board level.
When asked about his priorities Chas said: “We are entering a very difficult time for local government as Councils are forced to prioritise expenditure following years of the Labour Government’s mismanagement of the economy.
