Our  MP, Rebecca Harris issued a statement in respect of the Fire Service’s disappointing changes to cover on Canvey Island. Here is what she wrote……….

“This is the wrong decision and I am bitterly disappointed. After all the meetings I’ve had with the Fire Service, the Fire Authority and the Minister, the very strong representations they had from the two County Councillors Brian Wood and Ray Howard, …hearing the clear concern of the public at two public meetings, and an incredible 9,000 strong petition.”

“I appreciate the Fire Authority has made a commitment to test that the changes will work before they implement them – but they also need to know that I, all the local representatives and above all, 37,000 islanders will be watching too.”
