At this year’s Annual Parliamentary Luncheon on the 28th March BALPPA Chairman Adrian Mahon presented Rebecca Harris MP with the Association’s Parliamentarian Champion Award 2010 on behalf of the BALPPA Members.
Adrian Mahon commented
‘We are delighted to present the BALPPA award for Parliamentary Champion of the Year to Rebecca Harris for her commitment to and success with the Daylight Savings Bill. Daylight Savings, or Lighter Later as it has also been called, has been one of BALPPA’s key initiatives for several years and the research shows that it will bring great benefits in terms of job creation, reduced accidents and reductions in our carbon footprint. Rebecca has been a great champion of the Bill and we look forward to working with her as the Bill goes through the Committee stages.’
Rebecca was delighted to receive the award and commented:
‘It is a real honour to receive this award from BALPPA, an association that does so much for industry and indeed jobs in Castle Point through its work to promote British tourism. I am even more delighted that there is such overwhelming support from BALLPA for my Daylight Savings Bill, a bill which could help create an estimated 80,000 new jobs in UK tourism and boost trade, sport and recreation and cut all our electricity bills.’
