On Friday I visited the Meadow View Walk substation with local Councillor Steve Cole to get an update on the safety of the site from UK Power Networks area manager Ian Rudd.

The sub station has had a history of safety scares over the years and residents need to be reassured that it is safe. Mr Rudd has assured me that steps have been taken to ensure that there is no repeat of the incident.

He also talked us through the £1.8 million pound investment program that UK Power Networks had undertaken to improve the safety and reliability of the network across the area.

I am very glad that UK Power Networks are investing so much in improving the network for local residents and I hope this sees an end to the safety problems once and for all.
