I recently visited Castle Opticians for my regular eye test and I would encourage all my residents to make sure they get their eyes checked regularly. Even if you are not aware of any problems you should have your eyes tested every 2 years.
An eye test isn't just about getting a new pair of glasses – it’s a vital health check for your eyes and your general well-being. Your eye test can often pick up on eye diseases such as glaucoma, which is the second most common cause of blindness which can be prevented. It can also spot diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
Many groups of people are entitled to free NHS sight tests. These include those aged 60 and over, all children under 16 and those on low incomes. If you work with a computer it is also worth checking with your employer if you are eligible for free eye tests through them.
