Conservative Councillor Wendy Goodwin visited Benfleet Station to inspect the new cycle shelters. Wendy had been lobbied by residents to provide an alternative to the previous unsightly practise of chaining bikes to the railings.

 The new scheme is hugely popular. Commuters prefer to leave their cycles in a drier more secure area whilst they are at work.

Wendy said “After an often horrendous journey home from work the last thing cyclists need are problems with the last leg of their journey. We are confident that the new shelters will benefit cyclists and improve the appearance of the Station for residents.”
