Castle Point MP supports National Apprenticeship Week

Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris has welcomed the Prime Minister’s vision for apprenticeships to become the new norm for young people.  Mr Cameron is encouraging more young people either to go on and study at university or go out and get an apprenticeship. The Prime Minister’s views come as part of National Apprenticeship Week which is being held across the Country this week.

Castle Point MP welcomes tripling of Prompt Payment pledges to support small businesses

Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris has today welcomed the news that in just four months the number of FTSE 350 firms signing up to the Prompt Payment Code has tripled. There are now 126 FTSE 350 firms signed up to the code, with 94 new firms since November last year.  Three quarters of FTSE 100 companies have signed, or are in the process of signing, the Code.

Tour of King John School organised for 1953 flood refugees

As part of the calendar of events to commemorate the 1953 floods on Canvey Island, Canvey County Councillor Ray Howard and Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris are organising a reception followed by a tour of The King John School for survivors who were evacuated to the school when the flood hit sixty years ago.

Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris has welcomed new figures released today that show a fall in net migration of 84,000 in the year leading up to June 2012 compared to the previous year.

Vicky Ford challenges Commissioners over Bulgarian and Romanian immigration

Local Conservative MEP Vicky Ford is questioning the European Commission about how it will address crucial migration issues once restrictions on workers from Romania and Bulgaria are lifted at the end of this year.The East of England MEP raised a series of important issues in a formal parliamentary question to the Commission today tabled under the "urgency" procedure.
