Conservative Essex County Council Candidate for Canvey Island West

I am a 51 year old husband, a proud father of two sons, and a local Scout Group Quartermaster. I have lived in the Borough for over 20 years and spent most of my career working in London managing properties and facilities, having completed an engineering apprenticeship at 20 and working my way up to being a professionally qualified Manager and H&S professional.

I am now semi-retired and work as a handyman around the Island. I always speak my mind and believe in hard work and high standards. I will apply myself to the role of Essex County Councillor for Canvey Island West in the same way.

I understand the concerns of local residents and would be honoured if you were to elect me to represent you at Essex County Council.

Top priorities for the Island

FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT

I will put pressure on the Borough Council, Water Companies and the Environment Agency - to improve flood risk management and surface water control issues on the Island including the Lake and ensure areas like the RSPB reserve are properly managed to allow for safe management of potential flood events.

TACKLE THE TRAFFIC

I frequently work on the Island and understand the frustration of getting from A to-B, I will therefore campaign for better infrastructure and traffic management schemes. Every year, more houses are built on the Island without improvements to the infrastructure to cope with increased numbers. I will fight to change this.

COMBAT OVERDEVELOPMENT

I share residents' concerns about the 3,000+ houses included in CPBC's Local Plan. This is clearly disproportionate to the space available on the Island and the capacity of the current infrastructure. Canvey's infrastructure is at breaking point as it is. I will push for a common-sense approach to local planning.
