Today I met with the local police to thank them for their hard work deterring anti-social behaviour over Halloween and to hear about their plans to prevent it on bonfire night.
The vast majority of young people behaved very well on Halloween, but it is a shame that a small number decided to engage in dangerous behaviour. Dispersal orders were in place around Tarpots and Canvey Town Centre. In total officers carried out five stop and searches and three people were directed to leave the area. Three young people found with fireworks were also taken home to their parents.
A new dispersal order was put on those same areas tonight and will be in place until 5:00am on Sunday and the police sending out extra patrols to deter dangerous and anti-social behaviour.
