The Mayor of Castle Point, Cllr Pat Haunts tells us “Last Thursday I visited Castle View School to see the first presentation by a young Canvey man called Dafydd Geraint Helps-Fursse (known as Daf) about his planned 3,000 mile journey rowing across the Atlantic in 2023.
With three friends, Daf plans to take part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge to not only raise funds for their chosen charities, but to set an example that ordinary people can achieve great things with the right mind set and motivation.
He is aiming to take this presentation to upwards of 50 schools and youth organisations as he hopes to make an impact on generations to come.
Daf's Team is called The Oardinary Buoys and he is also appealing for sponsors, details can be found on their Facebook page and on their website.
My thanks to Daf for delivering a well put-together, informative and entertaining presentation.”
