Well done to all those involved in the Castle Point Community Allotment’s Big Lunch-Off today at their allotment off the London Road in Hadleigh.

I was honoured to be asked to help judge the Bake-Off competition. It was a tough to pick a winner from all the delicious entries, but well done to Fabio for taking first prize for his wonderful Lemmon Balm Cake, baked with Lemmon Balm grown on the allotment itself!

We were also entertained by Benfleet based singer and guitarist Nicola Collis and the debut of the excellent local duo, the unofficially named ‘The Orange Smarties’

Thank you to all those involved in setting up the event and to all the volunteers who give up their time to make the allotment such a great space for the community.
