WE NEED KNITTERS! Thundersley Remembrance Poppy Display #LestWeForget
Calling all local Knitters or Crocheters! We would really appreciate your help in creating knitted or crochet poppies for our Thundersley Town Team public display in Hart Road for the ‘Thundersley Remembers’ Armistice Day & Remembrance Sunday.
Over the last four years you generously made 1000’s of poppies which we have carefully stored and cleaned ready to go back up in November but we would love to cover even more of the railings this time and extend the display further.
You can use any poppy pattern you like but this is one we found on-line.
Cast on 60 sts using 4mm needles and red yarn.
Rows 1-8 (K2, P2) to end.
Row 9 (K2tog) to end. [30 sts]
Row 10 (S2kpo) to end. [10 sts]
Break off yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining 10 sts and pull tight, then fasten off yarn.
Join the edges of the poppy together and sew the black button in the centre of the poppy.
Specific abbreviation: Sk2po – slip one knit wise, K2tog, pass slipped stitch over.
If you are feeling creative and can help please drop your completed poppies into our monthly Councillors surgery, Robert Michael Estate Agents or Simon Foxen. Thanks everyone and happy creating!
