Conservative representative for Canvey South Ward Chas Mumford has been busy distributing thousands of leaflets to residents in his neighbourhood in preparation for Halloween.
The leaflets are produced with the elderly in mind so that Islanders can display them in their windows to request that Trick or Treaters do not knock on their front door.
Chas explained “Don’t get me wrong, I do not want to spoil the fun for anyone but lots of residents in my area do not like opening the door after dark and my leaflets will help then feel safer during the celebrations.”
“I am also mindful that in this day and age youngsters should only knock on doors of people they know well. My advice to children would be to go out and enjoy yourself, stay with an adult and have fun but do not scare any vulnerable neighbours“.
